Creating a definitive, trusted and discerningly judged list of the world’s very best hotels for the second time, The World’s 50 Best Hotels has announced its much-anticipated annual list. Unveiled in London’s Guildhall at an awards ceremony on Tuesday, 17 September, the list showcases the hotels in the world that set an unparalleled standard for luxury, excellence and hospitality, featuring much-loved properties around the world – with Atlantis The Royal, The Lana, Dorchester Collection and Six Senses Zighy Bay flying the flag for the Middle East.
The World’s 50 Best Hotels comes from the lauded team behind the world-famous World’s 50 Best Restaurants and 50 Best Bars, where leading experts in the field vote anonymously for the highest quality establishments across the world. The World’s 50 Best Hotels were voted for by an anonymous academy of more than 600 global voters – comprising leading travel writers, seasoned luxury travellers and respected hoteliers – including, and headed up by, nine Academy Chairs, experts in their fields and regions.
Alongside the definitive list, The World’s 50 Best also unveiled a series of special awards recognising excellence in the industry. In August, Royal Mansour hotel in Marrakesh, Morocco, was named as the winner of the Art of Hospitality Award 2024 – celebrating a hotel’s outstanding service and attention to detail. Crafted as a passion project for King Mohammed VI, the stunning hotel is now an oasis of bliss with 53 palatial riads – each coming with its own private courtyard, plunge pool and roof terrace.
The second award for The World’s 50 Best Hotels 2024 was announced shortly after, with The Peninsula in Istanbul winning the One To Watch Award 2024 – a title awarded to a hotel that has not made the main list but has the potential to do so in the future. Opened in February 2023, the stunning hotel offers contemporary Turkish design with historic splendour on the banks of the Bosphorus.
