1. Mount Nelson, A Belmond Hotel, Cape Town – South Africa
Loved by South Africa’s elite, Hollywood actors, musicians, sport stars, and most Cape Tonians, the Mount Nelson, A Bemond Hotel is the city’s grande dame. Nicknamed the ‘Pink Lady’, the charming oasis includes sprawling gardens, swimming pools, various historic pink wings – and private cottages – in the heart of the city and shadows of Table Mountain. Its Instagram account is an ode to all things fabulous, hedonistic, pink and quintessentially South African, with food, decor, lifestyle, spirit and the city itself all perfectly captured.
2. The Rooster Antiparos – Greece
While the Cycladic island of Paros is gaining traction, its neighbour, the inlet of Antiparos, remains under the radar. The Rooster opened its doors just a few years ago and is a dreamy, rustic escape with white-washed walls, and traditional Cycladic architecture. This is all about connecting with the land – from entering on an unmarked dirt track to staying in one of 16 stone houses – flanked with bougainvillea and bamboo – overlooking the Livadia Bay to enjoying produce from its nearby farm, and its Instagram reflects this bohemian, island, natural lifestyle.
3. Claridge’s, London – UK
Claridge’s is one of London‘s most iconic hotels, a beacon of timeless sophistication on Mayfair’s Brook Street. Since opening in 1812, it has played host to high society, royals, A-list celebrities and embodied English eccentricity. Now operated by the glamorous, forward-thinking Maybourne group, the hotel embodies a more playful spirit with pastel-hued suites, a 7,000 sq ft subterranean spa and a playful Instagram account to match – featuring everything from canine guests and suite antics to afternoon tea and its army of perfectly dressed, and smiling, staff.
4. Babylonstoren, Franschhoek –South Africa
The baby of ex-magazine editor Karen Roos and billionaire businessman Koos Bekker, Babylonstoren is a beacon of elegant farmstead luxury in the Cape Winelands. Situated in the Franschhoek valley surrounded by the craggy Simonsberg mountains, the working farm, vineyard, hotel and dining hub has fruitful gnarled gardens, adorable guest cottages, a greenhouse restaurant (plus a handful more), resident donkeys, chickens and other farm animals and panoramic valley views – all displayed on its wholesome and dreamy Instagram.
6. Habitas AlUla
Habitas AlUla’s opening in 2021 was one of the most anticipated hotel openings the region has ever seen, opening in an ancient desert landscape once home to the great Nabatean civilisation and a key trading hub on the Incense Route. Born at Burning Man, the bohemian eco-chic retreat invites guests to stay in sustainable (yet luxe) villas hidden amongst the rocks and dunes with a wellness centre, Instagrammable pool, futuristic coffee shop and social restaurant, plus the remanents of an immersive art exhibition found throughout.
6. Lost Lindenberg, Bali – Indonesia
Volcanic sands, lush tropical greenery, natural wooden accommodation – the earthy lifestyle of Bali’s Lost Lindenberg hotel can be lived on its Instagram. We love the artsy, editorial style shots of surfing on the beach and lolling in its lake-inspired swimming pools, and the billowing linen and bedroom shots – all capturing this design hotel’s creative, carefree soul.
7. Tuba Club, Marseilles – France
A favourite with France’s in-the-know creative set, Tuba Club is a restaurant and beach club with five cosy hotel rooms, ‘or chambres’, right in the waves of the trendy Marseilles neighbourhood Les Goudes. Rocks have ladders descending straight into the sea, rocks home to a peppering of tables, chairs and sunbeds with yellow-striped beach towels. The dreamy nautical, Mediterranean interiors and sun-drenched South of France lifestyle lives on its Instagram, which shows off plenty of pops of yellow, rose wine and cute beach-shack style rooms.
8. Amangiri, Utah – USA
Amangiri is wildly aesthetically pleasing, set within Utah’s Colorado Plateau surrounded by undulating rocks, and its Instagram matches the golden-hued, sandy palette and outdoorsy lifestyle of the resort. Guests reside in tented private pool villas and the resort is filled with clean, architectural lines and minimalist designs overlooking the tawny rocks, and the nearby Lake Powell adds a splash of blue against the lunar landscape and wilderness.
9. Singita, locations across Africa
Singita’s 15 safari lodges across the African continent capture the raw beauty and spirit of the land, with natural interiors and decor focused on all built to highlight the main event – the majestic great plains and savannahs they call home. The Instagram account represents the brand as a whole, and is filled with wonderful wildlife photography, conservation initiatives and of course, a look into the luxurious lifestyle in its lodges.
11. Villa Palladio, Jaipur – India
The Pink City of Jaipur is not short of Instagrammable hotels and buildings, from the iconic Hawa Mahal and City Palace to its rose-hued establishments like the Rajmahal Palace and Johri. Villa Palladio takes this up a notch, with its sea of pinks and reds set against nine acres of lush green landscape on the outskirts of the city. The nine-room hotel is a jewel box of design, a contrast to the group’s brilliant blue Bar Palladio in the centre of the town, and its ruby-hued Instagram immerses guests in this colourful lifestyle.
10. Castello di Reschio, Umbria – Italy
An ancient castle and noble family home turned stunning boutique hotel Castello di Reschio’s Instagram is an ode to life under the Umbrian sun: homemade pasta, a hilltop castle, cypress trees, horseriding and the colours of each changing season and the produce and wonders they bring. The 36-room restored 11th-century castle is the epitome of Italian countryside luxury living, with views over a tapestry of rolling hills, a family-run vibe, and supports the community – all of which are seen on its socials.
12. Bab al Shams Desert Resort, Dubai – UAE
Dubai’s OG desert resort Bab Al Shams has emerged from a year-long refurbishment, with a shiny, playful new lease of life breathed into its sandy, Arabesque walls. The Instagram account, too, had had a 180, and now shows pretty young things partying and enjoying the luxury resort, drinking cocktails, showcasing local heritage activities and enjoying the tranquil desert setting.
