Ibiza’s original bohemian hotel re-emerges with a bold new beat. Now under FIVE Holdings, Destino Five Ibiza is rewriting the rhythm of the white isle with slick design, high-energy Thursdays and a quietly confident take on five-star island living. The party never left – it just got a very stylish upgrade
It takes something bold to make a mark on Ibiza – an island with sky-high standards in music, style and hospitality. When Dubai-based FIVE Holdings acquired The Pacha Group, and with it the island’s iconic Destino resort, the ambition was not to start over, but to remix a classic for a new generation. Originally opened under Pacha as a barefoot-luxe retreat for clubbers looking to slow down, the resort quickly earned a reputation as Ibiza’s chic escape – a place where kaftans replaced sequins and mornings stretched long beneath the pines.
Now, after a full-scale five-star rebrand and relaunch, the resort re-emerges as Destino Five Ibiza. Interiors have been reimagined by designer Nadia Zaal, who has infused the low-slung, whitewashed architecture with a fresh, confident aesthetic: gauzy curtains, golden accents, and a welcoming scent of local hierbas liqueur served on arrival. The energy is unmistakably Ibiza – but distilled, sharpened and modernised for today’s traveller.

Lording over the cliffs above Talamanca Bay, Destino Five Ibiza enjoys a setting that feels both secluded and connected. From the gardens and terraces, guests gaze out across the Mediterranean to Ibiza Town and its fortified Old Town, Dalt Vila – a UNESCO World Heritage Site that twinkles come evening. It feels blissfully remote, tucked away in the pines, yet is just a 10-minute taxi ride to both the Pacha nightclub (complimentary entry for hotel guests) and the restaurants, galleries and boutiques of town. This is Ibiza at its most premium and grown-up – far from the boisterous buzz of San Antonio, yet still very much part of the island’s rhythm.
Destino Five Ibiza feels more like a Spanish village than a resort. Low-rise, whitewashed casitas dot the property, with leafy courtyards and pathways shaded by palms and bougainvillaea. Every ground-floor room opens onto its own terrace, some with sun loungers, encouraging a slow, outdoor rhythm. By day, the atmosphere is laid-back and elegant – the soundtrack is birdsong and Balearic beats that start gently and build gradually, perfectly judged to set a relaxed poolside mood.
Breakfast is grown-up and leisurely, with mimosas on the menu and live acoustic performances adding charm. Evenings are equally peaceful – many guests retreat to their balconies with aperitifs or head into town for dinner. The one exception is Thursdays, when the resort’s Pacha Icons party transforms the space into a high-energy, outdoor music experience – a reminder that this is still Pacha at heart.

Our Luxe W/ Terrace room struck a playful yet practical balance – fun touches like a mirror above the bed nod to Pacha’s heritage, while upgraded finishes bring the resort’s new five-star polish. Neutral tones and natural light create calm, while terraces offer a private place to unwind. Practicalities are well covered: a coffee machine, generous storage space and a fully stocked minibar. Guests should note that bathroom walls are lightly frosted glass – a detail better suited to couples or (very) close friends – and amenities like razors, cotton wool or irons need to be requested, though the staff are happy to oblige. Suites and villas offer more indulgence, with private pools and expansive terraces that encourage a longer stay. The layout, with casitas spread across leafy courtyards, ensures the resort always feels intimate, no matter how full.

Breakfast is a highlight – a buffet of hams, cheeses, pastries, fruits and cereals, alongside hot classics like eggs and bacon, with extras such as avocado or specialty dishes available à la carte. The setting is unhurried, the crowd stylish and surprisingly fresh-faced for Ibiza mornings. Live entertainment elevates the experience, from a roving magician to guitarists and percussionists. Lunch by the pool blends Mediterranean with Asian influences – sushi rolls, ceviches, crisp salads and club sandwiches – served with an infectious smile by the ever-cheerful pool staff.
For dinner, the hotel encourages guests to explore the island’s dining scene, but we recommend booking a table at the Pacha Restaurant before a night out. Set in a verdant courtyard, it delivers a glamorous pre-club experience with excellent cocktails and a buzzy atmosphere – and with complimentary entry to Pacha afterwards, it’s an effortless transition from dinner to dancefloor.
Destino Five Ibiza makes the most of its natural setting, with gardens cascading towards sea views and open-air spaces designed for wellness and leisure. An outdoor gym offers workouts with a Mediterranean backdrop, while a cabana-style spa pop-up by the pool provides massages in the breeze. The pool itself is the heart of the property, flanked by parasols and loungers that fill during the day but never feel overcrowded. The combination of thoughtful service, considered design and plenty of space ensures the resort retains its calm, unhurried atmosphere – a rare balance in Ibiza’s lively hospitality scene.
What makes Destino Five Ibiza stand out is its ability to strike contrasts with ease. It’s fun without being chaotic, stylish without pretension, social yet never overwhelming. The crowd is international and discerning – a mix of loyal Ibiza-goers, in-the-know Dubai regulars and younger creatives seeking a new rhythm away from the usual beach clubs. The property feels culturally connected yet refreshingly unflashy, more about living well than showing off. In short, Destino Five Ibiza doesn’t just ride Ibiza’s energy – it refines it, offering a resort that’s as much about slowing down as it is about staying up late.
