Ski season has begun, and while the world’s jet set flocks to popular destinations in the Alps and Aspen, discerning travellers are seeking out under-the-radar ski destinations. The latest grabbing international attention is Tsaghkadzor ski resort, Armenia – just north of the capital of Yeveran and home to 30km of pistes. Surrounded by majestic mountains, Tsaghkadzor Ski Resort is swiftly gaining popularity, providing a varied range of skiing opportunities for aficionados of all abilities. Armenia, famed for its rich historical legacy, is now establishing its own reputation in the winter sports domain. Featuring a multitude of ski resorts, the country accommodates everyone, from novice skiers to elite competitive athletes. Tsaghkadzor is one of the most scenic spots to ski in Armenia, with four-star hotels averaging around AED250 a night and ski passes from about AED30 a day. There are plenty of ski companies and tour operators who also work to arrange attractive packages from the UAE, including flights, transfers from Yerevan, accommodation, and ski rental, such as Armenia Travel (with early season deals being as low as US$299 per person for four night’s accommodation, private transfers and ski/equipment hire). Dining out is also very reasonable in Tsaghkadzor ski resort, and eating lunch or dinner in one of the resort’s cosy restaurants will cost about 10,000-15,000 Armenian Drams (about AED80), while a three-course meal in a fine dining restaurant will cost around AMD 30,000 (about AED240).
