Stepping into the restaurant, you will immediately notice its new aesthetic features such as rich velvet interiors, dazzling chandeliers, and magnificent views of the Dubai cityscape. Moreover, Carna has an intimate vibe with its own bar, which is perfect for enjoying a fantastic cocktail before your meal. On the menu, there are only high-quality cuts sourced from reputable distributors worldwide – and what’s better than savouring a perfectly prepared and expertly butchered steak? The Vibe: 8/10
As you enter Carna by Dario Cecchini, you would notice it’s interiors as smooth and contemporary with deep red hues, rich fabric, elegant chandeliers with dramatic warm lighting which creates a luxe yet intimate feel and at the same time a sense of warmth. The open kitchen is where culinary arts are passed on stage with the flames and skills. The bustling energy inside is magnified by floor-to-ceiling windows that reveal stunning views of the Dubai skyline. One can expect Carna to always exude energy that buzzes with excitement and sophistication, whether you are having drinks at the exclusive bar with friends or enjoying a sumptuous meal with your partner/spouse.
The Interiors: 8/10
Carna’s interiors show modern opulence with some allusions to the butchery business. Once you walk in, you will be sure to notice lavish velvet textures, polished woods, and sparkling touches of brass as well as elaborate chandeliers and selective artworks that refer to butcher skillfulness. The central focus is on meats that are openly displayed demonstrating thoroughness in their preparation and respect for the source. Floor-to-ceiling windows open out onto stunning views of the Dubai skyline that connect the city’s liveliness to the steakhouse’s ambience subtly. Carna’s interiors are a fine blend of upscale design and an authentic tie back to the restaurant’s philosophy; thus creating an exquisite steakhouse experience that captivates all senses.
The Food: 9/10
The menu at Carna by Dario Cecchini is known for featuring the finest cuts of meat and adopting a ‘nose-to-tail’ approach when it comes to using up the sourced ingredients, all procured from reputable suppliers and expertly prepared in-house through accurate butchering. The waiters politely suggested some of the exciting appetizers to start the night with, and served us dishes such as their Oxtail Bombolone, dusted with sweet paprika and orange sugar as well as their house-made sourdough bread and truffle butter topped with parmesan and chicken skin, we could feel the quality of the ingredients shining through with each bite, special mention for the sourdough bread, such fine crumb and texture makes it one of the best we’ve had.
The waiter then strongly suggested we try their grilled lettuce salad, a refreshing dish with grilled baby gem lettuce and crispy shallots, all topped with a delightful truffle honey dressing, which served as a lovely palette cleanser before the main event. Every cut whether it’s a classic New York strip or bone-in ribeye or signature bistecca alla Fiorentina is cooked perfectly over smouldering coals. We chose to go with a lesser known, however ever so flavourful cut for the night, the picanha, which was accompanied by two sauces, mushroom and beef béarnaise sauce. With each bite, the real flavour and tenderness of the cut could be savoured, kudos to the skillful grill masters. We also got to select some indulgent side dishes such as creme spinach, chunky chips and charred broccolini, which has a subtle savoury flavour.
Make sure to also leave space for Carna’s indulgent desserts! We had our eye for a stand-out from their dessert menu, the Pistachio fondant with pistachio praline and Cardamom ice cream; subtly sweet with the welcomed nuttiness from the pistachio and warm hints from the cardamom, it was the perfect sweet end to an overall delightful and intimate steakhouse experience!
The Verdict: 9/10
Every bite at Carna celebrates prime ingredients, expert technique, and an unwavering passion for the art of the steakhouse. The staff’s knowledge and attention to detail make the experience better, as they are willing to assist with any query to make it a seamless dining experience. Whether for special occasions or an amazing celebratory dinner, Carna symbolizes how classic steakhouses continue to awe even though their menus have been reimagined for today.
