Frequent travellers will be well-versed in the familiar struggle of dressing for a long-haul flight. Comfort, fit and durability are key, but there’s also always the niggle to look stylish and put-together, so you arrive in your destination looking great, and setting the tone for the trip. One brand that allows you to look fabulous, while feeling comfortable, cosy (and while being good to the environment) is niLuu, a luxury vegan silkwear brand that has just launched in the UAE.

Available exclusively at Galeries Lafayette, the US-based brand comprises a collection of loungewear and ready-to-wear pieces, taking you from travel through to the holiday itself. Pieces are made from the highest-quality vegan silk, a sustainable alternative to the original. Travel wear is soft, made with loose-fitting fabrics and stretchy waistbands, meaning they won’t disturb you on a long-haul flight – and creasing is also kept to a minimum (an essential in travel wear).

Our favourites include the Queen Hera print, available in many matching sets with a colourful wildlife-inspired motif of florals and birds. Other Hera matching sets with a button-down vegan silk shirt and matching wide-leg trousers (available in bright orange, black and a subtly printed magnolia), are perfect for travel, alongside the loose-fitting vegan silk T-shirt, available in a range of colours.

When landing in your destination, the collection also includes colourful and printed halter tops, silky flared trousers, a slip dress, shoulder dress and bralette – covering every activity from beach walks and lunches to boat cruises, dinners and even slumber (the kimonos and pyjamas are some of the most fun and fabulous around).

niLuu is founded by Turkish designer Nilufer Bracco, who pays homage to her home country’s vibrant prints and rich aesthetic culture with each design. All niLuu’s silk is PETA-approved and ensures a cruelty-free process. Garments are made in Japan using ‘Bemberg’, a yarn produced using recycled cotton harvest waste, and sewn in Ipeker, Türkiye, at an atelier headed up by women. The brand itself is based in Miami, Florida, USA.
