Zurich, Switzerland

Hasan Roomi, Co-Founder

‘My ultimate vacation destination, Zurich, is the perfect blend of beauty, heritage and nature. From its picturesque mountain backdrops to serene lakes and lush greenery, Zurich offers a harmonious mix of refinement and natural beauty. The juxtaposition of historic landmarks and contemporary architecture ignites my creativity, while a refreshing dip in Lake Zurich provides a tranquil escape from urban life. The breath-taking view of the cityscape against the Swiss Alps never fails to inspire. The Swiss National Museum is a place that stands out, showcasing a fusion of traditional and modern design elements, a perfect embodiment of the mindset we strive for at H2R.’

Dubai interior designers: Puerto Escondido, Mexico

Puerto Escondido, Mexico

Fernanda Lopez, Senior Interior Designer

‘Puerto Escondido in Oaxaca holds a special place in my heart as the ultimate holiday destination. Located along the stunning Mexican coast, it offers a genuine experience of Mexican life. Away from the tourist hotspots, there are plenty of spaces that inspire me; from the Wabi House exemplifying a unique blend of Japanese influence and Mexican slow living, beautifully interpreting local culture and materials, the textured Casa Del Sapao, to the intricate brickwork of Casona Sforza. Puerto Escondido’s architecture harmonises with nature, creating spaces that inspire meaningful reflection and timelessness in my work.’

Street in Madrid, Spain

Madrid, Spain

Marta Fontecha De Haro, Creative Director

Madrid, my hometown, remains my favourite holiday spot, pulsating with vibrant history and culture. From the lively streets of Malasaña to the elegant quarters of Justicia, every corner is full of charm and character. Exploring neighbourhoods like Chueca and Sol fills me with a sense of belonging and creativity, as the city seamlessly integrates the old with the new. Madrid’s architecture welcomes nature to co-exist with modern structures, creating a unique and nostalgic atmosphere that rejuvenates me with each visit. When designing spaces, I try to embody the same approach of conscious design.’

Beach in Mauritius

Mauritius

Nikhil Chandran, Design Director

Mauritius, my cherished holiday haven, always calls me with its golden beaches and vibrant culture. There are the lush landscapes of Black River Gorges National Park but also the idyllic beaches of Belle Mare – there’s peace and serenity if you want it, but also plenty of adventurous activities. I’m always inspired by the island’s natural beauty and I embrace its warm culture, both of which show the importance of a holistic approach to in designing, focusing on organic forms over man-made ones. The island’s unique hybrid architecture, influenced by Dutch, French, British, Indian, and East African styles, serves as a reminder of the social, historic, and artistic significance I aim to infuse into my design projects.’
