The best places to drink and dine, with a side of iconic Burj Khalifa views
Lording over the Dubai skyline, the Burj Khalifa is the city’s most iconic monument – an ode to the head-spinning development of the United Arab Emirates. When it opened in 2019, it put the city on the global stage as the world’s tallest building and a new international icon. Designed by famed American architect Adrian Smith (also behind the Jeddah Tower and Trump International Hotel & Tower in Chicago), it stands 830 metres tall and is one of the most wonderful buildings to gaze upon. On one side, the shimmering lights create a twinkling, star-like effect, while the other is covered with a large screen where nightly light shows are played, illuminating the Downtown skyline. To impress your guests, date, or soak up some city vibes, make a booking at one of these stylish bars and restaurants with Burj Khalifa views.
Zip up to the 30th floor of The Lana, Dorchester Collection, and you’ll find Michelin-starred chef Jean Imbert’s stunning new rooftop lounge, High Society – a luxury poolside lounging concept with a French Riviera theme. Offering 180-degree views of the Dubai skyline, taking in Downtown Dubai, the Creek and the all-important Burj Khalifa, the concept is open for hotel guests during the day but external visitors at night – where the twinkling views shine brightest. Dine on elevated’ finger food’ with wholesome, typically French ingredients and enjoy the wrap-around terrace and beautiful reflecting interiors. A nod to Dorchester Collection’s global properties, High Society also serves the famous croque-caviar from Paris’ Hotel Plaza Athénée bar – worth the visit alone. This is one of the chicest bars and restaurants with Burj Khalifa views.

Jean Imbert’s two The Lana outlets offer some of the best Burj Khalifa views in the city, and Riviera, located on the fourth floor, brings the high-energy culinary spirit of the Mediterranean to the city. The light-filled space captures the spirit of summers in the South of France, with botanical-inspired interiors, floral-inspired hues and a beautiful outdoor terrace offering front-row views to the Burj Khalifa. Open from 7am daily, the venue has both indoor and outdoor dining, serving a la carte breakfast – this alone is an exquisite sun-dappled affair – lunch and dinner. Highlights include toasted focaccia with green beans, burrata and pistachio, Jacky’s gazpacho topped with mozzarella di bufala, and signature tuna tartare made tableside, along with classic rustic French fare like Ratatouille tart with parmesan sable and crusted seabass.

CÉ LA VI is one of the city’s most perennially popular hotspots, thanks to its location on the 54th floor of Address Sky View, and as a result, its almost unrivalled views of the Burj Khalifa. The Singapore-born restaurant and bar delivers a sultry, Asian-inspired experience in its restaurant menu with a modern take on Eastern flavours, such as torched bluefin tuna and black truffle ‘sushi rice’ risotto. Those dining should be sure to reserve a table on the sweeping terrace for picture-perfect views of the iconic Burj Khalifa, while the bar and lounge offers a glimmers of the iconic structure. All guests, whatever the seating, are welcome to step onto the terrace and get a photo from its famous swing – a hit on social media.

Dubai EDITION’s chic ground-floor dining destination offers striking close-up views of the Burj Khalifa – where guests literally feel like they’re sitting below the iconic structure. The restaurant itself is stunning, with the typically minimalist-modern EDITION aesthetic but with an Italian renaissance twist – think moving frescos projected on the 15 metre vaulted cathedral-esque ceiling and a grand crystal chandelier known as ‘Maria Theresa’. The inspiration is Milan’s Duomo, but the views from the stylish outdoor terrace plant you firmly back in Dubai – especially with views looking onto the Burj Khalifa’s screen side, meaning a front-row view of the show.

Italian Chic Nonna is one of Dubai’s best restaurants and bars with Burj Khalifa views, offering a stylised Dubai twist on a classic Italian experience. Interiors are moody and seductive with lots of dark green and gold, and the ground-floor main restaurant – Chic Nonna Osteria Gourmet – serves innovative Italian fine dining paired with wines from the largest cellar in the region. Book a table inside near the windows for twinkling Burj Khalifa views, or outside in the charming little urban garden for an even better vantage point. Thanks to its upscale appeal and sultry vibes, this is a wonderful spot for get-togethers and dates. Head upstairs before or after dinner for a drink at Salotto, designed to resemble a grand Italian living room and with windows overlooking the structure.

Thiptara is one of Dubai’s most iconic and loved restaurants, located in the Palace Downtown hotel right on the Dubai Lake. The Thai restaurant has long been a popular spot for proposals, reunions, dates and more, thanks to its cinematic views of the entire Downtown cityscape: a front-row view of the fountains and fountain show (so close you can feel the spray) and uninterrupted, straight-on vistas of the Burj Khalifa. The food itself is also fantastic, though a little pricey (but you pay for the location). Order classics done right, spanning curries, noodles, starters, zingy salads, sharing-style set menus and more.
