The eyes of Frieda look down on your when dining at Cantina Kahlo – a bold, colourful and buzzing emerald-green dining room at the luxurious Ritz-Carlton, Bahrain. There’s a feeling of being thousands of miles away in Mexico City, a feeling which follows through to the flavour-packed menu. Think mezcal cocktails, streetfood inspired dishes, premium grills and fresh seafood. L’Orto
Suzy Massetti’s stylish Adliya restaurant brings Tuscany to Bahrain, with a cool and contemporary dining room and fairy-light lit (and air conditioned) garden. Guests dine surrounded by the grand panelling of a palazzo, with design details like olive and lemon trees creating an immersive Italian experience. A menu of Italian wine and authentic Tuscan foods completes the line-up: from simple spaghetti vongole and pizza to slow braised ossobucca. Bahraini through and through, casual Lumee is one of the best all-day restaurants in Bahrain, offering somewhere with casual vibes and fantastic food. The menu offers a contemporary take on Middle East classics, such as achaar hummus (the original dish topped with a lime and chilli pickle mix) and tikka Lumee: black lime on juicy pieces of beef tenderloin. Drinks include saffron lemonade, and there’s seating both indoors and on the buzzy outdoor terrace.

Monsoon
Balinese-inspired Monsoon playfully promises to flood the senses, with a pagoda roof, dragon-guarded carved doors and a eastern-inspired dining room transporting you to the Orient. Fine dining traditions of Japan, Korea, Thailand and Vietnam feature. A sushi bar pumps out popular sushi platters, which glamorous locals share in the tatami area (simple Japanese straw mats are covered in red and gold cushions). The main dining room with its slick wooden floors, rattan roof and carved Buddhas is more formal – serving Thai classics. Our favourite is the terrace, set around an ornamental pool with a charming wooden bridge.

Haji’s Cafe
Haji’s Cafe is anything but luxurious – and that’s what makes it so special. As the Kingdom’s oldest restaurants, visiting Haji’s is a cultural immersion into Bahrain itself, offering local cuisine in a friendly and informal yet aesthetic setting.
